PIANO LESSONS!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
• a computer running Mac OS X or Windows XP
• cable/DSL or faster internet connection
• USB or Firewire webcam (optional, but highly recommended)
• USB headset/mic
• Piano or MIDI keyboard (at least 61 notes is preferable)
• Teleconferencing software Skype
(free for windows or Mac OSX) or ichat
(OSX only)
DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT COMPUTERS? DON'T WORRY!
I will help you with the initial tech setup (it's FAST &
EASY!). Once you've downloaded and installed the teleconferencing
sotware It should only take about 15 minutes to get things
running smoothly for your first online piano lesson.
I DON'T OWN A WEBCAM. CAN I STILL TAKE ONLINE PIANO
LESSONS?
You can choose to do the lessons without a webcam.
We will still be able to talk, and i'll be able to hear
you play, but i will not be able to see you. You will still
need a mic/headset and teleconferencing software.
If
you don't have a webcam but would like to purchase one check
these out HERE

OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH LIVE ONLINE LESSONS:
• Send and receive sheet music, MIDI files, audio
files, via email.
• "Jam" with Adrian live with backing rhythm
tracks via MIDI *
• Save your lesson as a video
file (with sound) and/or as a MIDI file* for review anytime
you want.
• MIDI users will be able to play back lesson exercises
in ANY KEY at ANY TEMPO! *

we get all the tech stuff worked out, we'll get to work
on whatever it is you are interested in, just as though

Adrian
Cohen is a pianist, composer, and educator living in upstate
New York's Capital Region.

Adrian encourages his students to work towards
the mastery of fundamental musical skills such as instrumental
technique, understanding rhythm and
music notation, and preparing for live performances.
He also teaches music theory, ear training, and how
to learn music from recordings.
Lessons are tailored individually to each student. Not all
students are required to read or write music, but this depends
on what they are studying.
Adrian
also works with non-pianists on improvisation, music theory,
etc. He is currently accepting students 8 years old and
up for all styles of music.

Here are just some of the subjects you can study with Adrian:
Piano
Technique
Using
a combination of traditional and non-traditional methods,
you will learn the mechanics of the fingers/wrist/elbow/shoulder
system. You will develop endurance, left/right hand independance,
dynamic control, and strategies for overcoming problematic
passages and learning difficult styles.
Repertoire
Although this term typically applies to classical
studies, we can apply it to all styles of music. We will
discuss the material you are interested in learning, and
I will guide you in the art of learning and memorizing
music.Using this method you will be able to learn material
quickly, and retain it!
General
Music Theory:
(Excellent
for people looking to improve their general musicianship)
Using whatever your main instrument is, you will explore
the three main areas of music, (rhythm, melody, and harmony),
and learn how they apply to your desired goals. this involves
listening and performance exercises, rhythmic training,
music theory basics, ear training, and many other subjects.
Songwriting:
(Useful for anyone interested in
taking their compositional skills to the next level)
Learn the craft of songwriting through detailed analysis
of music you like in any style. Also take your own ideas
and learn how to arrange and produce them. You can even
record your music in Adrian's project studio and make
professional demo recordings.
Production
& Recording:
If you already have a good idea of how your music should
sound but don't have access to recording facilities, Adrian
will help you produce and record your songs here in his
project studio which is equiped with several instruments
including a yamaha baby grand piano.
